Reporter/photographer required (Our reporter is moving to a larger market.)
The Mountaineer weekly newspaper is looking for an energetic, community-minded reporter with a passion for writing accurate and engaging stories.
We have an award-winning newspaper based in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, that covers a large region including Clearwater County. This area is known for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
Reporters are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner and dress appropriately.
The reporter will be responsible for all Town of Rocky news, including regular council meetings usually held the first and third Tuesdays of the month. There will also be a wide range of assignments in this active community, including generating content for special sections.
Writing and photography involve everything from breaking news, sports, industry coverage and politics to feature and outdoor/environmental assignments.
There is the opportunity for flex-time work — some weekend and evening assignments are required.
Qualifications
Successful candidate must have a journalism diploma or certificate, must adhere to journalism ethics and the news media code of practice.
Candidates should have their own transportation and camera.
