As a community reporter the successful applicant will get to cover a full range of news, community features, municipal council, culture, and sports that will be published locally across Ladysmith and Chemainus.
This position is supported by a regional editor.

Operating out of Ladysmith Press, this is a unique opportunity to live and work in the beautiful Cowichan Valley region, providing comprehensive news coverage across print, web and social media platforms.
Expected earnings: The starting rate for this position is $23.87/hour.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following skills and talents: - Superior writing ability and storytelling skills.
- Competence in clean, readable, and writerly copy.
- Strong understanding of breaking news reporting.
- The ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment and is keen to learn and develop their skillsets.
- The successful candidate must be a team player and have an innovative mindset. They should be able to multitask, write using CP Style under quick deadlines and feel confident in executing meaningful storytelling in a complex digital publishing environment.
Applicants must be able to legally work in Canada and hold a valid driver’s licence. A reliable vehicle and smartphone are required.
