The role: Sault Ste Marie is looking for a multimedia journalist who can deliver well-crafted news and feature stories, take photographs and video and paginate print pages. This is a contract position under the federal government’s Local Journalism Initiative program. Candidates will be required to: - Write and edit stories for print and our website.
- Shoot, edit and appear in videos regularly.
- Shoot still photos.
- Generate story/feature ideas.
- Engage in energetic use of social media.
This is a union position and the recipient will become a member of CWA Local 30746 following the 90 day probation period.
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a journalism degree or diploma.
- A reliable car and a valid driver's license are needed. There are regular weekend and night shifts.
- Ability to edit videos using iMovie or Final Cut Express is an asset.
- Good knowledge of social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
- A working knowledge of WordPress is also an asset.
