Description
The Lakeside Leader is hiring a reporter/photographer, for a full-time, continuing position in Slave Lake. The position starts on August 1, 2025 and will remain open until suitable candidate found. However, we will be reviewing resumes by June 17 to screen the first batch of interviewees.
The job is Monday to Friday, with some evenings, and covering events every other weekend. The successful candidate will produce 10 to 15 items per week (these will be a mix of articles, stand-alone photos, or photo spreads).
Qualifications
Requirements- valid Class 5 driver’s license
- own car (will be paid mileage for work-related driving outside of the Town of Slave Lake)
- a high-resolution camera (a cellphone camera isn’t good enough)
- good communication skills
- the ability to meet deadlines
- live in the Slave Lake area or be willing to move to the community
Assets- a related diploma or degree, such as journalism, creative writing, or photography
- writing or photography experience
- experience living in a rural or northern community
Wage – Salary of $3,000 per month ($36,000 per year), with a three-month trial period. Benefits provided after the first three months.
