The Lloydminster Meridian Source, based in Canada’s border city, is looking for a full-time multimedia journalist to join its award-winning news team.
The Source is a locally-owned community newspaper with more than 70 years of history in print journalism and prints once per week on Thursdays. Reporters can expect to cover everything from local sports to municipal and bi-provincial political and healthcare issues.

Known as Canada’s border city, Lloydminster sits on the Alberta, Saskatchewan border directly between Edmonton and Saskatoon. Lloydminster is driven by agriculture and the oil and gas industry. There’s also endless summer and winter sports to cover, with chuckwagon racing and rodeos taking place throughout the summer.
The successful reporter will be supported by the publisher, as well as the managing editor.
Qualifications
The successful candidate possesses outstanding leadership and communication skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. A passion for community storytelling is a must and eagerness to infuse multimedia into coverage is encouraged.
Key attributes and skills include: - Excellent knowledge of CP Style and proper grammar.
- Proficient in using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
- Ability to write using multiple sources and details pulled from a variety of places.
- Thorough understanding of social media, photography, video, and print journalism.
- Understanding of urgency for coverage of breaking news online.
- Initiative and determination to improve and supplement both digital and print platforms.
- Ability to multitask and come up with story pitches.
- Two to three years of experience preferred.
