Looking for a rewarding career where you can share your expertise in an ENG Camera Operator/Editor capacity on a variable, hourly-rate contract? As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Manager, Operations, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of broadcast professionals.  

What You’ll Do 
You’ll act with integrity to: 
  • Utilize ENG and mirrorless camera equipment to shoot, produce and edit news style stories for television, web, and social media platforms. 
  • Demonstrate the utmost tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in a politically sensitive environment. 
  • You’ll support our collaboration as you: 
  • Work in a fast-paced, demanding, and team-orientated environment, while developing engaging video content to entertain and inform. 
  • Support production staff with pre-production, shooting, editing and/or conducting interviews when the House is in session and complete video production when the House recesses. 
  • Work alongside an On-Camera Presenter/Writer/Producer to produce non-partisan content that focuses on the Legislative Assembly, what is happening at the Assembly and how the parliamentary process works.  

Qualifications

You demonstrate excellence through your: 
  • A minimum of a college diploma in video recording, film, radio/television production, journalism and at least two years’ experience as an END Operator/Editor working on daily news. 
  • Ability to edit video/audio using non-linear editing technology, specifically Adobe Premiere.  
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot ENG camera and associated technology, such as wireless microphones, lighting equipment and communication tools.  
  • Aptitude for telling standalone visual stories, which may require an ability to conduct interviews and make editorial decisions of visual treatments.  
  • Ability to leverage social media and platforms.  
  • Ability to be a team player, flexible and adept at fostering positive working relationships. 
  • Ethos of non-partisan public service in support of good governance and healthy democracy  
  • Enjoyment of watching political debates and keen interest in, and knowledge of, current affairs. 
  • Ability to speak French is considered an asset.
