Glacier FarmMedia (GFM) is a dynamic company in the Canadian agriculture industry that connects with farmers through a variety of regional and specialty media franchises, a listings marketplace for the sale of farm equipment, leading industry events like Ag in Motion and Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and customized offerings for Weather and Market analysis and insights.
This role is an individual contributor who is part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.
Reporting directly to the Senior Editor, News & National Affairs, the primary responsibility is to work with the NewsHub team to cover issues of interest to Canadian farmers, and create multimedia content for a variety of print publications, websites and other products and events.
Duties and responsibilities - Accountable for contributing to coverage of news and production issues in Canadian agriculture under the guidance of Senior Editor, News & National Affairs and in co-ordination with publication editors and other reporters.
- Responsible for generating story ideas, covering events and issues, writing, photography, and digital journalism.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the other members of the NewsHub to ensure timely and relevant coverage. This will mean working with publication editors and other reporters, ensuring seamless delivery of commitments.
- Perform other duties as required.
Remote Some travel is required.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in journalism, or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record in research, writing and multimedia reporting. `
- Ability to digest complex topics into stories that serve farmers’ information needs.
- Skilled in digital multimedia storytelling.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Canadian Press style.
- Excellent communication skills with a desire to foster collaboration among cross-functional teams.
