Description
Politics West Canada is looking for a full-time editor/reporter for subscription-based daily political newsletters Alberta Today and BC Today.
AB Today and BC Today cover everything under the domes of the British Columbia and Alberta legislatures including debate, legislation, funding announcements, tracking appointments as well as topics shaping the political conversation.
The team is looking for an editor to help shape our coverage by generating story ideas, assisting in planning for daily coverage, helping to write copy, as well as editing the work of reporters.
The position can be based in British Columbia or Alberta and remote work is possible.
Compensation: - Salary commensurate with experience
- Health spending account
- Ten days paid vacation to start, as well as several holidays throughout the year
Qualifications
- Experience editing copy for grammar, clarity and accuracy
- Diploma or degree in journalism or a related field
- Knowledge of provincial politics in British Columbia and Alberta
- Knowledge of CP Style and adherence to other style guides
- Ability to manage time in a daily news environment
- Experience working in Google Docs, MailChimp and WordPress is an asset
