Description
Attention talented writers and storytellers: Join our award-winning Western Communications team! We are seeking a reporter for Western News, the University’s central news channel. In this role, you will create compelling news stories that highlight the diverse and impactful activities at Western including academic achievements, research breakthroughs, arts and culture, community engagement, campus life and in-depth profiles of students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Qualifications
You have a strong background in journalism, superior writing and reporting skills, excellent news judgment, an eye for detail and a passion for unearthing and telling stories that matter.
You have an undergraduate degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or related field, with two years’ experience as a professional reporter.
You bring in-depth knowledge of theory and best practices in brand journalism, the principles of writing, including grammar, style and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language and Canadian Press style.
You have the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, juggle multiple priorities, consistently meet deadlines, work independently and maintain direction and focus through proactive planning and organized approaches to work.
