Alaska Highway News is accepting applications for a full-time reporter to cover sports, business, and general assignment news in northeast B.C. 

Our communities are industrious and entrepreneurial, giving reporters the chance to tell stories to a growing global audience about the people, businesses, and culture that make our region a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family. Our people are global resource industry leaders, have stood on Olympic podiums, and have brought home championships and renown from provincial, national, and international events.

The reporter will be versatile, energetic, sociable, and community-minded. They can integrate with ease, and easily handle a mix of community news and challenging assignments on the big issues of the day. They can take eye-catching photos, and have a keen interest and experience in new media and social media storytelling.

The job includes evening and weekend work as required. 

Salary ranges from $20.02 to $24.24 per hour, commensurate with experience. We also offer competitive benefits along with car allowance. 


Candidates must have a driver’s licence and reliable vehicle. Education in journalism and experience at daily or weekly newspapers is an asset. 

We are looking for successful candidates to start any time after Jan. 10, 2022.
