NNSL Media is a cutting edge northern news company, operating two websites and seven weekly newspapers across two territories. Successful candidates will join an award-winning reporting team based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where they will be writing major news stories and features for an online and newspaper audience of 25,000 readers each week.
The ideal candidate will have strong writing and photography skills while possessing a zest for adventure that may take them anywhere in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut in pursuit of the stories most important to Northerners. Reporters working for us write for digital and print in a busy newsroom covering all types of news, from politics, crime and education, to sports, business and indigenous culture. Candidates may be asked to work in one of four bureaus outside of Yellowknife. NNSL Media will cover your transportation costs to Yellowknife and other reasonable related expenses. WordPress, InDesign, Photoshop and video knowledge is definitely a plus. Weekend shifts and other duties may be required.
The successful candidate will have:
Experience reporting for web and
print in community newspapers.
Proficiency in news writing and
knowledge of Canadian Press guidelines.
Photography skills and a decent
camera (NNSL Media may purchase a camera for the successful
candidate to be paid back in monthly installments).
Social media knowledge.
A valid driver's licence and
