We're preparing to launch in June a new daily online newspaper serving Ontario's construction industry. The work will be intense, combining news writing, managing editorial/data feeds, and assigning and editing freelance writers.
In the period before the daily's launch (between now and June) the work will involve primarily working on sponsored advertising features for existing publications, plus a few news stories per month.
Compensation includes a base salary plus benefits (and later profit sharing opportunities.) Initial salary during probation/trial period will be $50,000 per year, rising to $60,000 plus profit sharing in July. You would work from your own home and have much independence/freedom.
Journalism writing skills and experience. We will invite applicants to suggest story ideas and write some features (with freelance compensation) as part of the evaluation process.
Ability especially in June to handle a full-scale daily publishing cycle workload, Monday to Friday.
Understanding and ability to write for specialized business-to-business audience (architecture, engineering and construction community); converting technical issues where required into solid CP-style journalism and features.
Ability to work from your own home without close supervision.
Please send a couple of writing samples along with your resume. We will shortly respond, if you qualify, with a more detailed job/business description and a paid freelance assignment opportunity to evaluate your work.
