Northern News Services is Northern Canada's most distinguished news organization, publishing seven newspapers weekly in the N.W.T. and Nunavut and daily on two websites.
Successful candidates will join an award-winning reporting team based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where they will dive head first into writing the most widely read news stories in the North with more than 25,000 potential readers each week.
The ideal candidate will have strong writing and photography skills while possessing a zest for adventure that may take them anywhere in the North in pursuit of the stories most important to Northerners.
Reporters working for us write for print and digital in a busy newsroom covering all types of news, from politics, crime and education, to sports, business and indigenous culture.
Northern News Services will cover your transportation costs to Yellowknife and other reasonable related expenses. InDesign and Photoshop knowledge is definitely a plus. Weekend shifts and other duties may be required.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience reporting for print in community newspapers.
- Proficiency in news writing and knowledge of Canadian Press guidelines.
- Photography skills and a decent camera (Northern News Services may purchase a camera for the successful candidate to be paid back in monthly installments).
- Social media knowledge.
- A valid driver's licence and smartphone.
