Kidscreen’s Online Writer will supply our Kidscreen.com, Kidscreen Daily and Kidscreen Talent Pool readers with the news they need to know, and deliver community-building extras that our competitors do not offer.  In addition to finding and writing news stories that identify breaking developments, topical research and analysis, this beat will include keeping readers posted on key issues and trends, opportunities and challenges, and innovative efforts made by our industry’s operatives. 
  • Write stories for Kidscreen Daily and Kidscreen Talent Pool
  • Compile and send out Kidscreen Daily (five days a week) and Kidscreen Talent Pool (every other Monday) on time
  • Update editorial features on Kidscreen.com according to schedule
  • Quickly develop familiarity with the world of kids entertainment and the respective components of Kidscreen’s coverage (Screen, Consumer Products, Tech and Kid Insight)
  • Write and contribute stories to Kidscreen magazine’s news-oriented Moves and Tech sections
  • Attend industry events on behalf of the Kidscreen brand and build editorial relationships with both PR execs and kids entertainment professionals
  • General Performance Expectations:
  • Contribute to achieving the desired copy flow by meeting deadlines and providing progress updates
  • Make sure each story has all the necessary elements that make an authoritative piece, from the basics of fact checking logic, names, titles and facts, to making sure there is a balanced and diverse group of sources
  • Develop and pitch ideas that feature our unique focus and give Kidscreen an edge
  • Communicate and act as part of the team


  • University or college degree in Journalism or Communications
  • Two-plus years in editorial writing roles, with experience managing multiple, overlapping projects and deadlines
  • Outstanding editorial standards and judgment
  • A fun and conversational writing style, especially as applied to denser, complicated subject matter
  • Highly developed organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with PC platforms, Microsoft Office, WordPress, InCopy, Photoshop
